Fire Pit Use

Date: November 18, 2025

As the weather starts to cool, homeowners are getting out their fire pits so that they can sit outside and enjoy time around the fire with friends and family. If you have an outdoor fire pit, please avoid lighting it on an interior covered patio as the close proximity of combustible materials and the potential for smoke accumulation can pose a fire hazard and a health risk to you and your neighbors. Please utilize open-air locations away from structures instead. It is important to always be respectful of your neighbors and adhere to the following fire pit guidelines set forth by the Town of Flower Mound and your Lakeshore Terrace Townhome Association.

• Must be a minimum of 10 feet (10’) from property lines, 15 feet (15’) from a residence, and 10 feet (10’) from any other combustible materials.
• Should only be lit while on a concrete surface or platform, or while using a heat shield or proper screening, if needed.
• Must be properly attended and flame height kept under control.
• Fire must be completely extinguished after use.
• When not in use, the fire pit should be stored on an enclosed patio or in the garage.

The guidelines are in place to help avoid injury and damage to both your and your neighbors’ homes, which could result in an insurance claim and an increase in insurance costs for the entire neighborhood.

Thank you and go out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather with neighbors, family and friends!
